Getting your attic cleaned this week? Here are two uncommon  things to look out for...

attic cleaning

We love working for residential home owners because we get to learn about house keeping from experienced owners and hear cool stories about what can happen owning a home for the first time. Some cool things we've learned are the importance of cleaning your attic. Attics are often inspected at least once every decade to make sure everything is water tight and free of hazards. With that said, we want to quickly share with you 2 things you should look for when getting your attic cleaned.

#1: Mould! That's right, we don't like to say it but if your attic hasn't been investigated in a while you might find mould growing up there. It's hard to find if you're not looking for it. Other times it's easy to find if it's grown a lot because you can smell it. Most commonly though the mould, even while its damaging your home, can be hidden behind surfaces like carpentry and woodwork where you can't see it. Attic cleaners that live in older cities like mould removal Victoria BC deal with this problem a lot because there are many older attics that haven't been cleaned in decades. If your house is newer, your chances of finding mould will be much reduced.

#2: Hiding places! If you're not the first owner of your home and there have been many previous owners, there's a good chance they've been up in the attic as well. We often hear incredible stories of finding hiding places in attics left by forgotten families. Especially in older homes, it's uncommon but happens frequently enough that people find cool treasure in hiding places while cleaning their attics. You can find old photos, old collections, a lost ring, etc. You can look for treasure and hiding places in the same places you look for mould, making your efforts double. Happy hunting. We hope you find something precious!
